New special enrollment periods for individuals and families announced

Special enrollment periods (SEP) in Montana, Oregon, and Washington began February 15. 

The uninsured enrollment period for Idaho begins March 1. 

SEPs may include consumers on and off the exchange. Please note timing and eligibility differences across Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

Idaho

On and Off Exchange

 

Uninsured enrollments only—no plan changes for current members, unless there is a qualifying life event.

Applications received March 1–31 have an April 1 coverage effective date.

 



Montana & Oregon

On Exchange

Off Exchange

New enrollments and plan changes for current members allowed without a qualifying life event.

Applications received by Feb. 15 have a March 1 coverage effective date.

Applications received Feb. 15–28 have a March 1 coverage effective date.

  Applications received Feb. 16March 15 have an April 1 effective date. Applications received March 131 have an April 1 effective date.
  Applications received March 16April 15 have a May 1 effective date. Applications received April 130 have a May 1 effective date.
  Applications received April 16May 15 have a June 1 effective date. Applications received May 115 have a June 1 effective date.



Washington

Uninsured enrollments only—no plan changes for current members, unless there is a qualifying life event. 

Applications received by Feb. 15 have a March 1 coverage effective date. 

Applications received Feb. 15–28 have a March 1 coverage effective date.  

  Applications received Feb. 16–March 15 have an April 1 effective date. Applications received March 1–31 have an April 1 effective date.
  Applications received March 16–April 15 have a May 1 effective date.  Applications received April 1–30 have a May 1 effective date.
  Applications received April 16–May 15 have a June 1 effective date. Applications received May 1–15 have a June 1 effective date.

Idaho: The enrollment period is currently for uninsured consumers on and off the exchange, and begins March 1 and ends March 31 (with the possibility of extending). Individuals may file to see if they qualify for tax credits prior to the March enrollment period. The Idaho enrollment period allows plan changes for current members with a qualifying life event.

Montana: The SEP is for consumers on and off the exchange, and began February 15 and ends May 15.

Oregon: The SEP for consumers on the exchange began February 15 and ends May 15. Oregon matches off-exchange enrollment with exchange enrollment. New direct enrollments are eligible to make election and/or plan changes, as well as move from one carrier to another.

Washington: The SEP is for consumers on and off the exchange, and began February 15 and ends May 15. The Washington SEP allows plan changes for current members with a qualifying life event.
