President and CEO
John “Espi” Espinola, MD
President and CEO
Dr. John “Espi” Espinola recently joined PacificSource bringing with him more than 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare. Prior to joining our executive team, he served in a dual role as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Product Officer with Premera Blue Cross, as founder and CEO of Kinwell Physician Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of Premera, and as President of Kinwell Medical Group. Prior to his 12 years spent with Premera, he served as the National Medical Director for Essence Healthcare and before that as Executive Director and Medical Director of Evercare, a division of UnitedHealth Group.
Espi received his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA), his medical degree and master of public health from Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, MA), and his master of business administration from the University of Washington (Seattle).

Peter Davidson
EVP and Chief Financial Officer
As executive vice president and chief financial officer, Peter Davidson directs the financial planning, accounting, investment, and reporting practices for PacificSource and its subsidiaries. He also provides executive oversight for the organization's actuarial, underwriting, and legal activities.
Prior to joining PacificSource in 2008, Peter served as CEO of Oregon Medical Group, a regional healthcare company that includes a 105-provider multi-specialty group practice. Peter serves on the PacificSource Directions Board; past board-member participation includes the Lane Transit District Budget Board, the Lane Community College Foundation Board, and the Cascade Health Solutions Board.
Peter is licensed as a certified public accountant and holds a B.A. in biology from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He has more than 15 years of experience in healthcare management and administration.
EVP and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Jim Havens
EVP and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Based in the Tacoma office, Jim Havens is responsible for sales, marketing, brand management, communication, and public relations for all lines of business. He brings to this role more than 30 years of executive experience in operations, sales, marketing, and profit and loss accountability.
Prior to joining PacificSource, Jim served in concurrent roles as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and Senior Vice President group business for Premera Blue Cross of Washington, and prior to that, as President and CEO for LifeWise Health Plan of Washington (a Premera company).
Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science/administrative studies from the University of California and completed course work in the Masters in public administration program at Lewis and Clark College (Oregon). Outside of the office, Jim enjoys spending time with his two kids and hiking along the Skagit River with his wife and puppy.

Lindsey Hopper
EVP, Lines of Business
Lindsey Hopper serves as Executive Vice President, Lines of Business, leading commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business. Additionally, she is responsible for community health initiatives, enterprise strategy, and government procurement efforts.
Prior to her role, Lindsey provided strategic leadership and oversight for the PacificSource Medicaid line of business, where she was instrumental in maintaining relationships with community stakeholders and provider partners throughout Oregon and the greater PacificSource regional footprint. Before joining PacificSource in 2015, Lindsey served as the Executive Director of the Central Oregon Health Council. She also practiced health law in Denver, Colorado, and clerked for the Montana Supreme Court.
Lindsey serves on nonprofit boards in Central Oregon and she is passionate about supporting children, wilderness conservation, and building strong communities. She is also actively involved in a variety of work groups and task forces focused on addressing the uninsured rate, managed care, and unmet health care needs.
Lindsey earned her J.D. and Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in cell biology and neuroscience from Montana State University. Outside work, she enjoys hiking, fishing, coaching youth sports, and spending time with her husband and her family’s two dogs.
EVP, Provider and Regional Partnerships
Dan Stevens
EVP, Provider and Regional Partnerships
As executive vice president, Dan Stevens is responsible for strategic market execution, state and federal government relations, provider partnerships, and provider network operations. His portfolio includes advancing value-based systems of care that combine the strengths of local providers and a community health plan for markets across the Greater Northwest. Based in the Bend office, Dan has been part of the PacificSource senior leadership team since 2010.
Prior to joining PacificSource, Dan spent nearly 20 years in the Portland area, working largely at the dynamic intersection of population health and healthcare delivery. In past roles, Dan has served as a health services researcher, a physician group practice leader, a clinical service line administrator, and a hospital executive.
Dan has a Master of Public Health degree from Oregon Health & Science University, and an MBA from Portland State University. He completed his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College. His volunteer interests are varied, and include Board and Executive Committee service to the Central Oregon Health Council, and with the Economic Development of Central Oregon. Dan also volunteers with his graduate school alma mater, serving on the Advisory Board for Portland State University's School of Business Administration.

Kristin E. Kernutt
SVP, Chief Legal and Risk Officer
Kristi Kernutt serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Legal & Risk Officer for PacificSource. She provides in-house legal services to PacificSource and its subsidiaries and oversees the company’s Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit, and Legal and Regulatory Affairs Departments. Previously, Kristi was an attorney at Gleaves Swearingen Potter & Scott in Eugene, Oregon, where she specialized in general business, employment, and healthcare law.
Kristi holds a juris doctorate degree from the University of Oregon School of Law, a master of business administration from Seattle University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the University of Puget Sound. In addition, she is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States.
Kristi maintains memberships in the Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana State Bars, the American Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She is a longtime community volunteer.

Stephanie Pimmel
SVP and Chief People Officer
Stephanie Pimmel is PacificSource’s Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer. In this role Pimmel leads PacificSource’s human resource efforts for employees throughout its locations in Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Before joining PacificSource, Pimmel was based in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Lumeris. In other earlier roles, she served as the Corporate Human Resource Manager for Alter Trading, and before that as the Senior Human Resource Manager and Corporate Recruiter for Vi-Jon.
Pimmel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Lindenwood University, Saint Charles, Missouri. Outside of work, she and her husband enjoy being active and spending time with their four children and five grandchildren.

Mark Florian
VP and Chief Actuary
Mark Florian is responsible for the oversight of all actuarial and underwriting activities. Arriving to PacificSource in 2007 as an actuarial analyst, Mark has served in progressively responsible roles, joining the executive management team in 2015.
Mark is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He’s also served on the board of the Junior Achievement of Western Oregon since 2012, and continues to volunteer regularly in local school classrooms.
Mark earned his B.S. in chemistry from Gonzaga University. Outside work, Mark enjoys basketball, music,and spending time with his wife and four daughters.

Tony Kopki
VP of Commercial Programs
Tony Kopki oversees the commercial product portfolio, strategic initiatives, and market positioning; he’s responsible for driving the success of the PacificSource commercial lines of business. Tony joined PacificSource in 2012, first to lead the self-funded and administrative services division before taking on the Oregon director role for Regional Sales and Service.
Based in Portland, Tony brings more than 30 years of health insurance industry experience. Prior to PacificSource, Tony led large group sales initiatives as a Senior Sales Executive for LifeWise and managed self-funded sales and service as an Account Executive for Associated Administrators, Inc. He’s also served as a board of trustees for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Outside work, Tony enjoys being active in the community and spending time on remodeling projects and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Erin Fair Taylor
VP of Medicaid Programs
As Vice President of Medicaid Programs, Erin Fair Taylor provides executive oversight, strategic direction, and P&L accountability for PacificSource Community Solutions’ Medicaid line of business. Based in our Portland office, Erin works with regional Health Councils, Medicaid leaders, and strategic community partners for Central Oregon, Columbia Gorge, Lane, Marion and Polk, and Health Share of Oregon Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) to promote health equity and ensure access to high quality Medicaid services.
Prior to her role, Erin led CareOregon’s efforts to stand up and operate five CCOs across the state, established in-house counsel functions, and ultimately served as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Strategy Officer. Erin launched her health-policy career in the Oregon State Legislature, contributing to the inception of Oregon’s coordinated care model and the Oregon Health Authority.
Erin earned a BA in Anthropology from University of Florida, an MPH from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and a JD from University of Oregon--where she also earned the 2017 Young Alumna Award. She is incoming Chair of the Project Access NOW Board of Directors and serves on various CCO board committees. Erin enjoys spending her free time with her husband, kids, and dog in the outdoor beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Matt Bell
Idaho Market President
Based in our Boise office, Matt Bell is responsible for business development and operations in Idaho.
Prior to joining PacificSource in 2017, Matt served as a regional account executive focused on outreach and network development for University of Utah Health Care. Based in Boise, he served a multi-state area. Prior to his role with U of U Health, he was a senior partner with White Cloud Analytics in Boise. He also has 13 years of experience with St. Luke's Health System, serving in progressively responsible roles, culminating as system vice president for strategic planning.
Oregon Market President
Jeremy Vandehey
Oregon Market President
Based in the Bend office, Jeremy Vandehey is responsible for health plan activities in the state of Oregon and serves as statewide executive leader for market strategy, business development, provider partnerships, community engagement and government/regulatory affairs.
Prior to joining PacificSource, Jeremy served as an executive leader with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), where he was responsible for leading the state’s health reform efforts across Medicaid, the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace and public employee health plans. Prior to that role, Jeremy served as health care policy advisor for Governor Kate Brown and as the government relations manager for Kaiser Permanente Northwest Region.
Jeremy received his juris doctor degree with distinction for the University North Dakota School of Law and a bachelor of science degree in public policy and administration from Western Oregon University. When not in the office, he enjoys hiking, skiing and biking outdoors.

Erik Wood
Montana Market President
Based in our Helena office, Erik Wood is responsible for business development and operations in Montana.
Erik brings more than 17 years of healthcare leadership experience. He most recently served as the vice president of ancillary services at Billings Clinic where he was responsible for the overall operations, quality, and growth. Prior to that, he served as the CEO of Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber and in several leadership roles with Community Medical Center in Missoula from 2003 through 2012.
Erik graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, hiking, and camping with his family.
